Overnight in Qatar

So I arrived in Doha, Qatar last night after about 15 hours of flying, passport control, customs, bus rides & the whole lot.

I just wish they had told me that my checked luggage would be transferred straight to India. So I only have my handluggage at the moment – it’s a good thing that I put an overnight kit into it.

Since I stayed overnight, Qatar Airways booked me into the Movenpick Hotel. It’s not bad, but I really needed a cold beer (it’s a ‘dry’ hotel), so i walked over to the Four Seasons Hotel across the road. I just about fell over when I found out that a Heineken cost US$11! Can you imagine the markup? Although, that didn’t seem to be a problem – did some impromptu magic for the bartender, who bought me another!

Well, the reactions from the bartender caused a bit of attention & some hotel guests came to join me. I started chatting to them, performing & find out more about them. It was pretty cool to find out that one of them was Mark, PA to Frank Williams of the Williams F1 racing team! Mark was pretty impressed by my spoon bending & insisted on getting a photograph of me & the spoon. Who knows, maybe I’ll be invited to perform at a Williams event one day?

I’m currently sitting in an internet cafe in the Doha City Centre Mall – about the fly in about 6 hours. So time to get back to the hotel & get some sleep.
