Renting a car can be a viable solution if you're on a trip to a foreign country and you hate driving all the way there. I believe (although prices are fluctuating) that you shouldn't need that much money to rent a car but it really depends on what you want to drive. You can't rent a mercedes for 20 $ a day that's for sure but i don't get people who are renting a car for 6 months when they can buy it )

The preferred service sounds good, I usually use CABS Car hire,which is pretty good price wise, and awesome on their customer service.
CABS also have a return customer policy, but you dont get a ‘wizzard’ account, you do get free rental days though, which I like quite a lot.

The Avis Preferred Service is handy – Imperial has something similar. I just wish Avis would get better with their baby car seats – too many people (including myself) have experienced the car seats not being there when they arrived, or them not knowing how to fit the seat into the car. It’s very dangerous for the little ones.
